My Life of Saturdays

I’m still job hunting, so now that finals are over I have a lot of free time on my hands. Hopefully that will change soon, but for now I’m trying to enjoy the knitting time.

This weekend I helped Mary move into my apartment. She’s staying here while she’s in between places to live, so there’s been lots of mad crazy knitterness going on.

As I was cleaning my apartment, I came across a long abandoned project: Grecian Plait. I think I started it about 2 years ago, but then it got so warm that I abandoned it in favor of more summer-y stuff and shoved it in the back of a cabinet and forgot about it.

So, I started knitting again and have now finished the front and back:

The yarn is a really gorgeous pastel purple, which is normally not my color (I tend to go for the darker purples) but is really cute for spring and summer.

Now, I should be a good person and work on the sleeves so I can finish the project. But…I got distracted.

And who can blame me? My Knitpicks order arrived, bringing me yarn-y goodness! I ordered some Wool of the Andes in Hyacinth to make Rogue and some yummy sock yarn in Rocky Mountain Dusk.

I managed to summon the willpower to set those aside, though, because I also got the needles I needed to work on Icarus from the latest Interweave.

It’s coming along well, although it’s now at the point where I’m slowing down considerably. I knitted ALL day yesterday, while watching tapes of all the TV shows I didn’t have time to watch during school (yes, I am a TV junkie) and didn’t even get through an entire repeat of rows 19-42 on chart 1 (it’s the 3rd of 5). Oy vey!

It is looking gorgeous though, and I have enough momentum with it now to keep plugging along until it’s finished:

I know it doesn’t look like much, being unblocked lace and all, but I’m happy with it.

What’s up next? More work on Icarus, plus the socks I’m working on and some fun Kool-Aid dying!
