We also get to feel odd and guilty when (and if) we hire personal help to make sure these things get done more properly. If you have a private chef or a cleaning person, you’re often seen as selfish, uppity, or incompetent. “You can’t clean your own house?”. I have seen children’s school meals, which is in many cases, the only one they get, and it addresses none of the things you mention, and that’s nationwide. It is beyond urban, single, career-person.
*sigh*

People don’t stop to think about what they’re eating or why. Food tiny just a necessity, it should be enjoyed.

Over here to the East, we are finally seeing the snow settle and stay to truly call Winter. While I will complain about cold and scraping windshields and people who forget how to drive every year, I try to also remember it IS water, and life, and needed for the following seasons when the Wheel turns again.

Are you reading Food is Love: Advertising and Gender Roles in Modern America by Katherine J. Parkin? Because if you aren’t, you should! It’s a similar concept, and a book I enjoyed A. Lot.

(Also, if you aren’t reading Parkin’s book, would you mind name-checking the book you are reading? I’m fascinated by food history in this country and the course science and advertising played in making food into what it is in our lives. Knowing that history means obesity isn’t a food issue at all!)
