FO: Socks for Seeley

They’re finished! Hooray!

Socks for Seeley

The socks turned out very well, and I love the brightness of the colors. The photo is a little more muted, and this layout makes it even more so, but I assure you they are a very vibrant shade of orange.

Now all I have to do is write a little note and care instructions, and put them in the mail. Maybe next time I see them, they’ll be on TV….

Socks for Seely

So, I’m a Bones fan. It’s a great show, love the chemistry, love Bones and Booth. So, when a bunch of knitters decided to knit socks for Seely, how could I not join in?

Problem. Here is my progress. These socks? Are supposed to be finished by the end of June. Oh, and did I mention this is sock number 1? And that I’m easily distracted?

Yeah. This could be rough.

FO: Mom's Socks

Alas, this FO has no pictures, as I stupidly wrapped up the socks and sent them on their way before  I thought about taking one.

I’ll try and have my Mom send a photo, but the socks did turn out very well. I used Jaywalkers, my new favorite sock pattern, with Lorna’s Laces in Watercolor. The patterning looked lovely, and the socks felt very soft.

My Mom’s been wanting socks for ages–I made a pair of fuzzy slipper socks for her, but I’ve made “real” socks for my aunt and my Dad, so she’s been pouting that she hasn’t got any.  Her birthday was on the 13th, so they aren’t too late.

Jaywalking

This may come as a shock to some of you but I, as it turns out, can be very stubborn. I don’t like to follow the crowd, so when a pattern takes off, my first instinct is not to make it. Like, say, Clapotis or Fetching. Or Jaywalkers.

Sometimes, though…the more I look at a pattern, the more I realize it’s popular for a very good reason. (And sometimes not so much.) Jaywalkers? Is popular for a very good reason.

I had been working on some plain socks with some yarn, but they came apart in my purse so I decided to try something new. I started playing around with Jaywalkers and I fell–hard. The socks are adorable. The varigation in the yarn is showcased, but doesn’t overwhelmed. The socks are adorable.

I loved this pattern so much that when I realized I need to get started on a pair of socks for my Mom’s birthday, I knew there was only one pattern to use. Oh, yes, I see a lot of Jaywalking in my future.
